Internal structure

Board, Members & Committees

Introduction
Within UUMUN several responsibilities can be distinguished. Each (board)member has its
own  field of expertise  and contributes to the shared goals of UUMUN. Every (board)member
is also taking part in joint activities.
There are  five board positions: president, secretary/treasurer, head  content, head non- profit and head profit. The members will be divided in three groups (content, non-profit and profit)  and work together with the responsible board member on the specific tasks set for the three committees.  An important aspect of  UUMUN is the involvement of all members: the organization only functions when everybody cooperates. Every year the  group will have to take care of itself, not only concerning the content, but also financially.

Joint activities
Every UUMUN member, regardless of its position, will have to take part in activities that
concern the preparation for CUIMUN and HNMUN. This might for example be attending a guest lecture,
participating in debate training or studying the background of the country represented.

Relations between board and members
Within UUMUN the role of the boardmembers is  slightly different compared to the members.
The board will have to make the general plans for the year and stimulate every member to
stay committed to their goals. Board members will regularly meet and discuss the progress of UUMUN
and possible problems. Having this coordinative role does not mean, however, that the input of the
members is not taken seriously. The emphasis within UUMUN is on cooperation rather than  authority.

Board Positions

The President
Being president of UUMUN requires some special commitment and skills. In a way the
president is the one who bears final responsibility. He or she should have excellent qualities
in the field of coordinating and monitoring. It is up to the president to take action when
something seems to fail within UUMUN. Being president means that you will have an overview of what is
taking place within UUMUN while being involved very little with the practical details.

Secretary/Treasurer

The role of Secretary/Treasurer mainly involves taking care of the budget and other monetary issues. The secretary treasurer also takes care of daily UUMUN concerns, takes notes during meetings and maintains the website to a certain extent.

Head Content
The board member responsible for content matters will, together with his  committee, make sure that the delegates have sufficient skills and knowledge to participate in CUIMUN and HNMUN. Together they plan and execute most of the joint activities of UUMUN, for example trainings in the areas of  lobbying, debating, resolution writing or public speaking. Knowledge about the MUN rules, general background and the country represented will have to be brought to all the members. Being head content
means that you will have  an overview of  these activities and that you relate them
to each other.

Head Public Affairs
Without the financial support of many of our sponsors, UUMUN could not take place. These
sponsors do not only include companies but also non-profit sector foundations who donate
funds to initiatives like UUMUN. Furthermore, public affairs focuses on  contacts with the University about funding. These contacts are  extremely important and should be handled with the greatest care. Applying for funds and subsidies can sometimes be rather complicated and this is the challenge for all those
UUMUN members involved with public affairs.

Head Profit
Many companies such as law firms or accountancy firms are keen on sponsoring student
activities like UUMUN.  Being involved in profit means a lot of talking to companies and
making sure that they understand the significance of sponsoring UUMUN. This significance
is mainly that companies get access to talented students and that they will get enormous
exposure at the MUN's where  many students are present.
